First Bass on a Sakura Snoop
Went for a short 2 hour session this evening, at a local mark with Putty. It was really tough going, even the bait anglers were struggling, with only a small schoolie for their efforts. The water colour was really murky, and there were no signs of any baitfish. I kept moving and changing tactics, generally experimenting with different techniques. I tried surface lures, shallow divers and SG Sandeels before turning t a new lure in my box, the Sakura Snoop! The Snoop is a big slug lure at over 7″ and weighing 23g, I rigged the Snoop weedless and weightless on a 6/0 Texas hook.
After 3-4 casts with the Snoop I had a really good take and a hook up! Staying deep this bass was putting up a decent scrap, taking a few yards of line from my tightly set drag. After a good fight, I was surprised when I landed a bass under 3lb, I was expecting at least a 50cm+ after that battle!

2lb 10oz (49cm) Sakura Snoop Caught Bass

Unfortunately this was the only fish of the session, but with conditions as they were, I really wasn’t expecting anything.
